When you are downloading files in Safari, a small icon to the right of the Address Bar displays the progress of your download. Clicking the icon displays the Downloads Pop-over, a window that, in addition to displaying download progress, lists as all of the files that you have recently downloaded. You can also press the ⌥ + ⌘ + L (Option Command L) keystroke combination to display the window. If you have paused any downloads, you can resume them from this window.
Double-clicking any file in the list opens it in its associated application. For example, double-clicking a Word file will open it in the Word application. If you wish to display the file in the Finder, right-click the filename in the list and choose Show in Finder from the menu.
You can also quickly save a downloaded file to any location on your computer by clicking and dragging the file from the list. This copies the file to the destination location.
To clear the Downloads Pop-over window (to prevent snooping eyes), click the Clear button on top of the window. This will remove every item in the recently downloaded list. If you wish to remove only specific entries, right-click the item you wish to remove and choose Remove from List from the contextual menu.
