If you’ve been getting strange messages from Websites asking for permission to send you push notifications, you are not alone. This is actually a new feature in OS X Mavericks. If a Website supports this feature, you will be asked if you want to receive alerts the first time you visit their site. If you accidentally permitted such alerts don’t worry – you can always fix it from Safari’s Preferences.
Quick Guide: To Revoke a Websites Permission to Send You Alerts
- Click Safari ➪ Preferences from the menu.
- Click the Notifications tab on top of the window.
- Any Websites that you have granted access will display in the list.
- Select Deny if you want to disable push notifications for a particular Website or Allow if you wish to enable notifications for the site.
- To completely remove a particular site, select the site and click the Removebutton.
- To remove all Websites, click the Remove All button.

- Click the Notifications tab on top of the window.
- Click the checkbox next to Allow websites to ask for permission to send push notifications* to uncheck it.
