In yesterday’s post, we looked at how to schedule a task on your Mac using Automator and the Calendar app.
If you have Keyboard Maestro installed on your machine, you can create a Keyboard Maestro event to open the Automator file rather than schedule it on your calendar.
Quick Guide: Use a Keyboard Maestro Macro to Schedule a Task (in this case, run an Automator application)
- Open the Keyboard Maestro editor.
- Select File > New Macro from the menu.
- Type a name for the Macro.
- Click the New Trigger button and then click Time Trigger
- Type the time that you want to macro to run in the time box.
- In the On these days: area, click the day boxes for each day that you want the macro to execute.
- Click the Action box to display the Actions list.
- In the Actions list, double-click Open a File, Folder or Application to add it to the macro workflow.
- Click the Browse button and navigate to the folder where the file that you want to run is located. This would be your Automator application file.
- Select the file and then click Open.
That’s it! As long as the Keyboard Maestro engine is running, the macro will execute every day at the time you specified.
