If you work with Web pages or if you do design work with image colors on a regular basis, you might find the DigitalColor Meter a handy little utility. What it does, is allows you to capture the exact color value of any pixel on your screen. Move your cursor over the image until the color value you want is displayed. Then press the ⌘ + L keystroke combination to lock the color values on your screen.
You can choose to have the color value sampled in five different ways: * Native Values * sRGB * Generic RGB * Adobe RGB * Lab*
Quick Guide: Capture Color Values with DigitalColor Meter
- From the Finder menu, choose Go > Utilities
- Double-click the DigitalColor Meter icon.
- Click the display drop-down list to chose which values you want DigitalColor Meter to display.
- Drag the Aperture slider to the right to increase the number of pixels sampled.
- Move your cursor over the color that you want to sample.
- To lock the values of the color on your screen, press the ⌘ + L (Command and L) keyboard shortcut

Choose View > Lock Position from the menu.
