An easy way to combat screen clutter and focus only on one application is by using Full Screen Mode. What this does, is hides the menu bar, scroll bars, status bars, tool bars and any other open windows except for the active application window.
Note that Full Screen Mode is not available in all applications. As if this writing, it is available in several of the Apple applications as well as the Microsoft Office applications. With Mavericks, it is now also available in the Finder as well, which can come in handy when working with Finder tabs.
If you see the Full Screen Mode icon on the top right corner of the window, then that application has Full Screen Mode available. Click on the icon to enter into Full Screen Mode or press the Ctrl + ⌘ + F keystroke combination.
Quick Guide: To Use Full Screen Mode
- Click on the Full Screen Mode Icon on the top right corner of the window
Or
Press the Ctrl + ⌘ + F keystroke combination. - To exit Full Screen Mode, press the Ctrl + ⌘ + F keystroke combination
Or
Press the Esc key on your keyboard.
