If you should ever find that the application with which you are working stops responding to commands or if the application appears to be out of control, you can use the Force Quit command to stop the application. To close an unresponsive application, select > Force Quit from the menu (or press the keystroke combination ⌘ + Option + Esc), select the application that you wish to force to quit from the list, and then click the Force Quit button.
If it is a Finder window that is not responding, select Finder from the Force Quit window and click Relaunch. This command will close any open Finder windows and restart the Finder.
To Force an Application to Quit
- Select > Force Quit from the menu

Press the ⌘ + Option + Esc keystroke combination. - Click the application that you want to force quit in the list.
- Click the Force Quit button
Or
To relaunch the Finder, click the Relaunch button. - Click the Force Quit application’s Close button.
